queo in Alaska
Last summer we relaunched the website of Chena Hot Springs Resort in Fairbanks, AK. The new user-friendly structure and design present the resort in a new light. In particular, the animated northern lights header, realized in Flash, and the use of many pictures communicate what the website visitors can experience at Chena Hot Springs Resort.
Another important improvement for the resort is that the website is realized with the open source content management system TYPO3, which allows Chena Hot Springs Resort to easily maintain the content of the website.
In addition, Chena Hot Springs Resort assigned queo in October 2007 with designing and realizing an online banner. The resort’s goal was to target potential local customers and remind them of Chena’s special Alaska resident rate, their natural hot springs outdoor rock lake and renewable energy projects and, in general, to increase the local awareness of the resort. The banner’s design directly relates to the Northern Lights theme of Chena’s website. The banner is realized in Flash, drawing attention with a pan shot from the dark night with northern lights to Chena’s rock lake. The 468x60 pixel, large banner ad is online at the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner website. The online banner with a file size of only 25 kB is not bigger than a regular picture ad or animated .gif but is far more attention seeking. The positive feedback from Chena and the increased visitor rate at the customer’s website stands for the success of the online banner.
